there in chronogical order. - User:Kill You/sig 17:30, April 13, 2011 (UTC)Personally, I simply first finished off watching the series both when watching Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball After finishing Dragon Ball, I watched Dragon Ball Movies. (considering they were all alternate stories to the series, unlike DBZ, it's just fine.) After finishing DBZ, I started watching the movies yet again. Well, when you watch them you can guess what sagas between a movie is, actually. Even if not, it's still no big issue as you get to see a complete separated story/stories when watching the moveis.
- User:Kill You/sig 17:39, April 13, 2011 (UTC)Helo There,I watched the series and the movies around the same time. So i know what the best time is to watch all the movies. Some of the movies don't realy link to the series but based on age and abilities of the Z figthers a made this list. Also some of the movies are based on happenings in the series. Here is my list:Dragonball All the Dragonball (not Z) movies are alternative story lines. Beter watch them after the Dragonball episodes.Dragonball Z Dead Zone - Around the start of DragonBall Z.World's Strongest - Along side the end of Saiyan Saga.
After Goku gets back from King KaI.Tree of Might - Same as above. (but everyone is stronger then they should be at that time. Like they are on Namek, but Goku isn't an Super Saiyan yet)Lord Slug - Same as above.Cooler's Revenge - After Frieza Saga.Return of Cooler - Along side the Android Saga. Before the Cell Saga.Super Android 13 - Same as above.Broly: Legendary Super Saiyan - During the Cell Saga.Bojack Unbound - After the Cell Saga.Broly: The Second Coming - Along side the Majin Buu Saga.Bio-Broly - Same as above.
After the World Martial Arts Tournament ended.Fusion Reborn - After Goku beats Kid Buu.Wrath of the Dragon: - Same as above.Special 01: Bardock Father Of Goku - The Story play's before Dragoball begins but it's recommended to watch it after the Frieza Saga.Special 02: The History Of Trunks - Best to watch this after the Android Saga.Special 03: The Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans - Best to watch this after the Cell saga.Special 04: Yo!
Son Goku and His Friends Return!! - Best to watch this after Dragonball Z.Dragonball GT GT Movie: A Hero's Legacy - Best to watch this after Dragonball GT.I hope you enjoy my list.GVR.Most Movies don't follow any order thus it doesn't really matter but some do e.g The Bojack Movie takes place near exactly after the cell games.Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan took place during the 10-day wait for the Cell Games, NOT after the Cell Games (otherwise Gohan would be able to go SSJ2)Plan To Eradicate The Saiyans OVA: same as above- How can Cooler's Revenge possibly come after the Frieza Saga when Goku doesn't even come back to earth until the end of the Trunks Saga????
Cooler's REvenge comes after the Trunks Saga and Before the Android Saga.- John.fletcher.52459 ( talk) 10:14, September 22, 2014 (UTC)Here is what I would think on timeline placement of DBZ movies:Dead Zone - Before DBZ, however, it doesn't explain why everyone was surprised.World's Strongest - Along side the end of Saiyan Saga.
After Goku gets back from King Kai without being delayed, meaning less to 0 deaths for the Z-Fighters.Tree of Might - Same as above.Lord Slug - Same as above.Cooler's Revenge - After Frieza Saga if the Spirit Bomb killed Frieza(due to no SSJ until the last fight).Return of Cooler - Android Saga if Kamicllo killed/defeated Androids 17 and 18Super Android 13 - Same as above.Broly: Legendary Super Saiyan - During the 10 day wait, but it doesn't fit due to the whole "stay in SSJ until the 10 day wait is over."Bojack Unbound - After the Cell Saga.
Nothing seems to prevent it and can fit in with canon like Battle of Gods.Broly: The Second Coming - would say before WMAT.Bio-Broly - After WMAT, before Buu.Fusion Reborn - Due to SSJ3 being shown, I would say it was after either Gotenks or Gohan killed Buu. Since they know fusion, both Goku and Vegeta are dead, Gohan was using Ultimate instead of SSJ, and Videl seems to be with the Son family at the start, implying they are already starting to be together.Wrath of the Dragon: - I honestly have no idea.Battle of Gods - Canon, before EoZ.Aznpinoy ( talk) 20:02, SepDragon Ball Wiki Navigation On the Wiki Wiki Activity Random page Videos Images Chat Forum Content Characters Sagas Films Manga Collectibles Parental guide Community Forum Blog Anime/Manga Hub Guidelines Rules Standards Manual of Style This article is about the sagas in the Dragon Ball franchise.

A new series called Dragon Ball Super is currently airing by the original creator. You should watch that, after watching Battle of the Gods and Fuukatsu no F, the 2 movies by Akira-sensei himself. You can choose to watch the other movies and specials as well, the quality varies, but some of them are really enjoyable, and the new Bardock Special as well as Son Goku and his friends are back both had Akira-sensei's involvement in their development. Strictly, the order would be as in their chronological order.Dragon BallDragon Ball ZDragon Ball Super(Not GT .I WILL EXPLAIN WHY IN THE LATER PART).Okay so Dragon Ball was written with a totally different intention than Dragon Ball starts off as a story of a young kid, Goku who along with friends, Bulma Krillin and a few others set out to find the Dragon balls that grant the user any wish.
The storyline continues with multiple villains along the way. There are taking turtles, weird green creatures, men with the eyes, pigs that can transform and really strange villains, but in all, it's a great show.
Dragon Ball was made for a slightly perverted audience having a fun storyline.? ??Notice the quality of the images. The one on the left would be Goku as a kid.Dragon Ball Z on the other hand starts off with a more serious note. The series moves at a higher pace with a more violent approach. We begin to understand that Goku is an alien and the adventure continues only this time, it doesn't remain on earth. We see the heroes travel to other planets and make new discoveries, transformations and a bunch of new aliens. ??The first major transformation.
DBZ brought out the super saiyan. Notice this villain and scroll down. Finally let's get to the latest show. Dragon Ball Super. The show is simply amazing.
The graphics have come a long way from Dragon Ball over the last thirty years. Super is the continuation of There are new villains and some old ones being brought back. The story is at a high pace so the number of filler episodes is minimal.
In just 43 episodes, they've completed 3 whole sagas.Honestly, super is a must watch, but do watch the other two so as to understand the characters better. ??Hope you guys have noticed the villain had returned. Look at the quality of the graphics.Coming to Dragon Ball GT .The reasons I say that one shouldn't see it are:It breaks the continuity the series. It has a horrible story line not even remotely written by the creator of the franchise-Akira Toriyama'sThe graphics aren't great.
And overall it isn't thrilling to that extent. The correct order in which one must watch DBZ is1) Dragon Ball Z2) DB GT (actually not all that interesting)Thats it.You dont need the rest. Rest are all just waste of time. Dragon ball kai is the remake of Dragon Ball Z by removing all the filler episodes and making the dialogues more accurate (as in more accurate translation of the Japanese dialogues).
But trust me when I say this DBZ Kai Sucks.I have seen both versions, (DBZ completely, and DBZ kai here and there) and the best thing about DBZ funimation version is the background music. Oh my god, the background music by the composer Bruce Falconer is breath taking. Every character has its own back ground music, which just gives you chills at times. Especially Vegetas music (Hells Bell theme) and the Dragon theme. The dialogues may not be a perfect translation, but who cares?
You need to modify and adapt it to the English language which is done perfectly in funimation dub. You truly get chills when you listen to some of the epic dialogues. So my humble advice is watch the funimation dub of DBZ. Then you can finally watch3) DBZ abridged. Haha you will love it :D Watch the original Dragon Ball first. Then watch either Kai or Z contains lots of filler, and Kai (which is a remake of Z) cuts all of it out. Watch a couple episodes of both and see which you prefer.
After that, watch the current series that's still airing, Dragon Ball Super. Watch GT after that if you wish, but keep in mind it ignores everything that Super established, so it is therefore non-canon and just a show with no bearing on the overall story.
You may still enjoy it though. Dragon Ball, Some mix of dragon ball Z and Kai (watch "good episodes" in Freeza and Cell saga in the original, use Kai to cut all the filler otherwise), Dragon Ball Z for the Buu saga (Kai hasn't been released outside of Japan in this saga yet), Skip GT, start watching Dragon Ball Super (or Watch Battle of Gods/Resurrection of F). Note: The movies aren't really canon, so we can only assume how'd they'd fit in the timelineNote #2: Dragon Ball GT is not considered Canon, so it won't be included in here.Dragon Ball Z Special 01: Bardock Father Of GokuDragonballAll the Dragonball (not Z) movies are alternative story lines.
They do not have a place in the canon timeline.Dragonball Z Dead Zone - Around the start of DragonBall Z. World's Strongest - Along side the end of Saiyan Saga. After Goku gets back from King Kai. Tree of Might - Same as above. (but everyone is stronger then they should be at that time. Like they are on Namek, but Goku isn't an Super Saiyan yet) Lord Slug - Same as above. Cooler's Revenge - After Frieza Saga. Dragon Ball Z Special 02: The History Of Trunks - Alternate timeline, but includes events that lead to the Android Saga Return of Cooler - Along side the Android Saga.

Basically you would have Dragon Ball + Dragon ball movies, then Z until the end of the buu saga (movies are like "what if events" but I will leave a graph for you here in the post). Then, 6 months after Goku kills buu, the Super series starts (there is a movie for each saga exept for the last one and they are basically the entire sagas in 1 hours tho I think you should watch both the movies and the episodes (episodes first)).Then you have GT and you probably know that some people do not consider it cannon but technically it is after Z, tho some people think it might get caught by Super and that it will make GT an alternate timeline kind of thing. Here is the Z graph: Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including dragon ball chronological order, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.Moderators: Kanzenshuu Staff, General Help So since I restarted my Dragon Ball journey early last year, I was frustrated by the fact that I couldn't find a simple guide for viewing order on the internet in terms of movies and specials, so I decided to make my own.

64 [Ending]The idea was to have it in chronological order as best as possible, with notes I have made to explain inconsistencies (The worst I understand being the Goku coming back to earth after Frieza but what could I do?
poor Icarus appears out of nowhere otherwise) Any input from you guys? Maybe alternative reasons for inconsistencies? Also I wanted to do a general inconsistencies explanation thing, with my own interpreted back stories to eliminate things that don't fit, but I'll post that when I have time. I like it! I also have been trying to find a good guide of when to watch the movies along with the TV series, until I finally found this list, which I find to be really cool since it follows where the manga was at when the movies came out.
But now I'm contemplating to use your guide instead since it makes things pretty consistent in terms of what happened when in the story. I find it interesting that you put Movie 6 (second Cooler movie) after Movie 7 and 8! Never seen it be placed like that before.
Though to be honest, trying to explain how the movies fit into the main story is useless, since its pretty much considered that all movies take place in alternate universes from what happens in the main series. Kind of how Future Trunk's timeline is different than the main series' timeline, since different actions resulted in different outcomes.
That's how I think of them at least. Also, where would you put the three Dragonball movies in the story? I'm trying to watch from the begging of Dragonball until the very end of Z, including all 16 movies (and maybe Path to Power at the very end of it all). Khanage wrote:So since I restarted my Dragon Ball journey early last year, I was frustrated by the fact that I couldn't find a simple guide for viewing order on the internet in terms of movies and specialsThe reason being that there's no set order in which the movies and specials were intended to be watched in relation to the main series.
There's the timing in which they came out, but that's about it. Daizenshuu 6 lists the general timeframe in which the movies are set in-universe (while noting the inconsistencies between the movies and main story), but this isn't really intended as a viewing order. Daimakku wrote:I like it!

Some fit perfectly (such as Bojack Unbound), some have major inconsistencies that make it more of an alternate universe type of thing rather than something that fits in correctly. Are you looking to include movies even if they don't fit right in the chronological order?
